Synaptics ClearPad 3200 On-Cell Smartphone Solution Now Shipping in Sharp Phone

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Synaptics Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNA), a leading developer of human interface solutions for mobile computing, communications and entertainment devices, today announced the first shipment of its ClearPad™ 3200 on-cell solution in the Sharp DC250 smartphone, which is now available through DoCoMo in Japan. The ClearPad 3200 is a single-chip controller for 2D capacitive touchscreens and buttons. The Sharp DC250 features a 720p HD resolution touchscreen, a 4.5-inch glass-free 3D screen, and a built-in 12 megapixel camera with full 1080p HD video capture.

Synaptics ClearPad 3200 offers industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and stylus support with the ability to discern up to 10 fingers on screens up to five inches. ClearPad 3200 improves overall device usability by eliminating touchscreen sensitivity issues associated with noisy handset power supplies as well as environmental and display noise. It helps manage power requirements by delivering best-in-class battery life with advanced power optimization circuits and algorithms. Other ClearPad 3200 features include low-latency finger tracking at 120 Hz for up to 10 fingers and compatibility for sensor on lens, chip on main board and on-cell implementations.
