Synaptics Develops Custom Interface Solution for Digitalway MPIO HD300 MP3 Player
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct 11, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Synaptics(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq: SYNA), a leading developer of interface solutions for mobile computing, communications and entertainment devices, has created a new custom interface for the latest Digitalway MPIO HD300 MP3 player. The customized interface solution incorporates a ScrollStrip(TM) interface for vertical scrolling with capacitive buttons, creating a simple and intuitive interface solution.
The interface is based on Synaptics' capacitive sensing technology, which has shipped in over one hundred million consumer devices -- such as notebook PCs and MP3 players -- since 1995. Its solid-state design is mounted beneath plastic, making it exceptionally durable and creating a unique industrial design. With the ScrollStrip solution's responsive, intelligent sensing technology, users can continuously scroll through long lists or accurately move short distances to make specific selections.
"Because the Digitalway HD300 MP3 player can store thousands of files, having a simple and intuitive interface is critical," explains Clark Foy, Synaptics Vice President of Marketing. "With Synaptics custom-designed interface, users can easily navigate through play lists, songs and menus using single-handed operation."
"We worked with Synaptics on the design of the Digitalway interface in order to create a unique industrial design while offering an intuitive interface for the user," explains U.S. President and CEO of Digitalway, Marcelino Kim. "The result is a sleek device design and compelling interface that today's consumers are looking for."
The Digitalway HD300 is a 20GB hard disk drive MP3 player, with FM tuner, voice recorder and data storage capabilities, and a battery life of over 16 hours. The Digitalway HD300 MPIO MP3 player is currently available at Best Buy retailers.
