Synaptics Natural ID Fingerprint Solution Drives New Lenovo Vibe P1 Smartphone

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Synaptics Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNA), the leading developer of human interface solutions, today announced that Lenovo has selected Synaptics' Natural ID area touch fingerprint sensor, FS4202, for its latest smartphone, the Vibe P1. The new Vibe P1 enables secure, password-free access to unlock the device and provide swift access to applications and mobile payments for consumers.

The feature-rich Natural ID FS4202 sensor solution utilizes AES256-bit encryption of the fingerprint template data which is key to the rapid deployment of biometric authentication on smartphones. Additionally, Synaptics' strong IP position protects customers with over 240 granted/pending biometrics patents, bringing added confidence and security to mobile authentication.

FS4202 is FIDO Certified by the Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance and fully interoperable among a broad variety of ecosystem products and services that support FIDO specifications focused on password-free convenience, and correlates with the fast growing movement towards secure mobile payment services including AliPay in China.

"The Lenovo Vibe P1 addresses increasing demand to use smartphones for mobile payments and we are proud to provide confidence in biometric security with the support of Synaptics' fingerprint authentication solution," said Michael Zhu, Hardware Director, Core Technology & Platform, Lenovo. "As highly secure fingerprint authentication becomes prevalent on smartphones, the entire ecosystem, and most notably consumers, will benefit from safe and easy password-free transactions."

"This latest deployment of Synaptics fingerprint solution on the Lenovo Vibe P1 highlights the growth of our biometric security solutions being adopted across a broader range of smartphones," said Anthony Gioeli, vice president, marketing, Biometrics Product Division, Synaptics.
