Synaptics Delivers Next-Generation, High-Performance ClearPad™ 3400 Touchscreen Solution for Flagship Smartphones

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Synaptics Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNA), a leading developer of human interface solutions, today announced the launch of its ClearPad™ 3400 high-performance capacitive touchscreen solution for premium smartphones. As high-end smartphone designs continue to push the envelope with even more sophisticated capabilities and high-performance applications, from ultra-fast Web browsing to console-quality gaming, the need for extremely accurate touchscreen performance with minimal latency and noise interference is a must have. The ClearPad 3400 addresses this need and is specifically designed to enable the smoothest, most precise touchscreen experience for premium smartphones with displays of up to six inches.

Building on the strength of the ClearPad 3200, the ClearPad 3400 features a redesigned Analog Front End (AFE), an integrated charge pump, and advanced filtering algorithms for industry-leading Signal-to-Noise (SNR) and Signal-to-Interference performance. With the highest level of noise immunity, ClearPad 3400 performs with precision even in the presence of noise interference, which can be exacerbated by a range of factors, including the use of noisy handset power supplies. ClearPad 3400's high SNR and advanced algorithms also enable accurate multitouch performance under a wide range of scenarios, such as in the presence of moisture or with gloved fingers.

As OEMs also look to implement more flexible input options for consumers, the Synaptics ClearPad 3400 allows simultaneous pen and finger touch recognition, passive pen tracking with pinpoint accuracy, and linearity and jitter control that functions with any number of fingers and styluses as small as 2mm.

Synaptics' world-class global engineering support, industry-leading design tools and flexible delivery model all help simplify the process of implementing the market-leading ClearPad family of solutions. ClearPad 3400 supports a wide range of sensor stackups, enabling thinner designs and increased OEM flexibility.

"The first point of interaction consumers have with their smartphones is typically with the touchscreen, and as device sophistication continues to accelerate, the overall touchscreen experience is becoming even more critical," said Kevin Barber, senior vice president and general manager of the Smart Display Division. "Synaptics built the ClearPad 3400 with this in mind. With the ClearPad 3400, OEMs can be confident they're providing end users with the smoothest, most accurate touch experience available today."

Synaptics will be showcasing its portfolio of human interface products at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain from February 25th through February 28th in a private meeting space (Hall 2, #2MR102) by appointment only. Customers and suppliers are encouraged to contact their Synaptics partner to arrange a meeting time at MWC. Media are encouraged to contact synaptics@text100.com to arrange a meeting time.
