Synaptics Announces MobileTouch(TM) Solution for New Samsung Mobile Phones

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec 13, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Synaptics Incorporated (Nasdaq: SYNA), a leading developer of interface solutions for mobile computing, communications and entertainment devices, today announced the launch of a MobileTouch(TM) solution for Samsung's SCH-B560, SCH-B5600 and SCH-B5650 mobile phone models. These models are available in Korea through service providers, SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom, respectively. Samsung has incorporated an easily accessible 3-button MobileTouch solution on the exterior of these phones to enable quick control of popular Multimedia on Demand (MOD) functions.

"Synaptics' MobileTouch solutions allow our customers to implement sleek and unique industrial designs for their products, while also providing intuitive, easy to use interfaces for the end user," said Clark Foy, vice president of marketing at Synaptics. "Our patented capacitive sensing technology has clear advantages over traditional mechanical inputs."

The ultra-thin MobileTouch sensor replaces mechanical pause/play, fast forward and rewind buttons. It enables users to easily manipulate controls on the run and enjoy the richness of the multimedia experience no matter where they are. Synaptics' capacitive interface controls are well-suited to the mobile phone environment.

"As our ability to incorporate user-pleasing functionality into mobile phones increases, Samsung will continue to lead the market with exceptional design and usability," said Hae Jun, Ahn, senior engineer at Samsung. "Synaptics' capacitive interface solutions allow us to create mobile phones that exceed the user's expectations."
