Cambrios and Synaptics Enter Agreement to Accelerate Use of ClearOhm™ Conductive Film in Commercial Products

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cambrios Technologies Corporation and Synaptics Incorporated, (NASDAQ:SYNA), a leading developer of human interface solutions for mobile computing, communications, and entertainment devices, today announced that they have entered into a Reference Design Partner Agreement.

Under this agreement, Synaptics will develop reference designs incorporating Cambrios unique ClearOhm material as a transparent electrode in projected capacitive touch sensors. These reference designs incorporate Synaptics' industry leading integrated circuits and intellectual property. This system level solution will help enable a wide variety of clear, multi-touch solutions for electronic devices, such as smart phones and tablet computers, that exceed the performance characteristics of the incumbent ITO sensor designs, at a lower price point. Synaptics expects to develop and release the first reference design incorporating ClearOhm material to customers this summer.

"Synaptics is excited to partner with Cambrios, and looks forward to creating reference designs that exploit the unique properties of this material," said Stan Swearingen, senior vice president of strategic technology and corporate development at Synaptics. "Cambrios embodies the characteristics of companies Synaptics partners with for the benefit of our customers, our supply chain and our end users."

"This collaboration with Synaptics will produce benefits for both of our companies as well as for our customers," said Dr. Michael Knapp, President and CEO of Cambrios. "Synaptics is a clear leader in human interface technology. They are also an innovator in using novel technological elements such as our new materials to enhance the end user's interface experience. We believe the result of our relationship with them will enable exciting alternatives to current ITO touch sensors."
